About

I specialize in coaching beginning improvisers, with a focus on “Yes And” and ensemble building.

Any fear you might be experiencing as a beginning improviser can be banished by finding trust in your fellow performers, and in yourself. Whether you’re preparing for your first class show, or exploring the possibility of forming an indie team with your classmates, I’m excellent at facilitating mutually supportive working relationships between scene partners.

I’ve been a theatre director for over 20 years, and I know from experience that having a strong ensemble is imperative to good work onstage. This is especially true of improv. If you know your teammates have your back, and that you have theirs, you can relax, play, and have fun creating!

I also have a mime background, and can help you nip any bad habits in the bud as it relates to object work. I’m action-oriented and we’ll implement anything we talk about immediately via games, exercises, and scene work. All practice sessions I coach finish with a 15-to-20 minute montage set followed by notes.

I’m currently in the advanced study program at Upright Citizens Brigade, having studied with [in chron order] John Frusciante, Ryan Karels, Doug Moe, Abra Tabak, Kevin Hines, Lydia Hensler, Patrick Noth and Morgan Grace Jarrett. I’ve taken improv workshops with Will Hines, Kevin Mullaney, David Razowsky and Rich Talarico. I’ve studied hip hop improv at Magnet Theater with Doug Widick and Kaila Mullady.

I've been on numerous indie teams, including Ovulating (founding member) and others.

I have a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Towson University with a concentration in Acting/Directing. I've also studied acting at The Barrow Group, and character acting at UCB with Elaine Carroll (full course), Jodi Lennon (workshop) and Anthony Atamanuik (workshop).

My rate is $20/hour, for a 2-hour minimum and 3-hour maximum.

“I just think that everybody is a creative person and should get to it.”
